Minions Photowalk Video
Our first attempt at making a vlog video during the Minions Photowalk!
Minions Photowalk
The first photo-walk of the season and what a way to start... after a weekend of constant rain that finally finished about an hour before we met, the moors gave us all the moodiness it could conjure, "pea soup" is an understatement and we could barely even see more than a few metres!
Still, the eight hardy-souls who ventured out onto the moors all had high-spirits and we were determined to make the most of it. After a short stop at The Hurlers we made the trek over to Goldiggens quarry where we played with some long exposure shots.
Good job there is a path to the quarry and back as we could well have been lost on the moor, but at least we came home with the same number of people as we started with... result!
End of season meal
The end-of-season meal again saw us gathering at The Cheesewring in Minions, and we received fantastic service from them as we have in years past. I think it's fair to say that no-one went home hungry!
What a great end to the season with winners collecting their trophies in a great atmosphere.

Some big "thank yous" for going above-and-beyond go to Yvonne for her sterling work sourcing the clubs many speakers, Andrea for baking cakes and keeping us all fed all through the year, to Andy and Tim for helping run the club behind the scenes and of course to Richard for completing his first year as chairman!
Jon Wyatt
The final speaker evening of the year and we've ended on a belter! Jon Wyatt is a professional photographer who's career started with skiing photography in mountains from around the world but in recent years he's moved on to more creative works, producing works in a number of different projects.
I highly recommend having a look through his portfolio of outstanding work.
Tony Briard Trophy
Congratulations to Tim for winning the final competition of the club year, with a fantastic shot of the River Tamar complete with bridges and swans!
Well done to Jon for second place, and third place goes to Helen!
Ken Beard Trophy
Congratulations to Janet for winning the Ken Beard Trophy with her fantastic church shot, with loads of details and clarity to be found it was a clear winner!
Also congratulations to Tim for second place and third place goes to Peter, one of our new members!
Visit from Launceston Camera Club
Tuesday saw our yearly meet-up with the Launceston Camera Club and we had a bumper crop of prints and DPIs (Digital Projected Images) from both clubs to share... it was another fascinating evening seeing work from members of other clubs and how they compare with our own photographers.
A big thank you to everyone who bought some food along and helped keep the evening running, and a special thank you to the members of the Launceston Camera Club who made the trip down to see us.
Looking forward to our return visit next year!
Bill Mammatt Cup
This week saw the results for the Bill Mammatt Cup, a competition that's dedicated to the members who have not won a competition so far this year, giving them an opportunity to showcase their work.
This year the top spot was taken by Helen with "In The Rain", Helen also took second place with "Holi - Hindu Festival of Colour", with Jon in third place and Daphne taking home the Highly Commended with "Summer Days".
Natural History Competitions
This week saw the results of our two natural history competitions, The Haworth Cup for printed images & The John Armstrong Salver for projected images.
Congratulations go to Jan for winning The Haworth Cup with her shot "Baby Robin", with second place being taken by Tim with "Squirrel" and 3rd place went to Andy for "Bittern".
The winner of The John Armstrong Salver was James with his shot "Glaucous Gull and Catch", with second place going to Richard L with "Swallow Feeding Water" and 3rd place going to Andy for "Total eclipse of the sun from Western Isles".
I think if there's one take-away from the competition it's that in future we should aim for conservative photo names!
